As you'll already know, if you're a regular reader of my blog, I love getting out and about on adventures with the kids and we cover miles on foot, geocaching or just walking to new places to explore. As long as I have a bag full of drinks and snacks to refuel, they don't complain, so I'm always stocking up on new portable snacks. We've received a few new products to try recently which perfectly fit the bill. First were these fruit pots from Nature's Finest which we received in two varieties - Juicy Mango or Pineapple in Coconut Water. They're the perfect size (200g) to offer a refreshing and satisfying snack that is as healthy as it is tasty. They can be stored in the cupboard (although they taste even better if chilled) so they're ideal for keeping in the drawer at work to keep you away from the usual unhealthy office snacks ! (RRP : £1.25)
All three of the Madhouse kids were very impressed with the new Kids’ Fruity Oat Bars from Pulsin and when I tasted them, I could see why ! They come in three flavours - Blackcurrant & Apple, Strawberry and (my favourite) Orange Choc Chip. They are nut free, gluten free, dairy free and soya free with no artificial ingredients and they even count towards your five-a-day - what's not to like?! They only contain natural sugars but they taste really indulgent so they're great if you have a craving for chocolate or cake and want a healthier option. They are aimed at kids aged 3-9 but we all loved them ! (RRP : £2.99 for 6 x 25g)
The Madhouse kids were also delighted to rediscover Naturelly, a gelatine free jelly juice that has been given an overhaul since we first reviewed it back in 2014. (Click through to see our original review.) The pouches are now smaller (a better size, in our opinion, because there were always half-filled pouches cluttering up the fridge with the old size) and only contain 36 kcal per 100g pouch. They are made with no added sugar or sweeteners, contain only 7g (1.5 teaspoons) of naturally occurring fruit sugar, and 70% real fruit juice. The Madhouse kids still loved the fruity flavours, didn't notice that they were lower in sugar and still enjoyed the unique ("weird" was their word!) jelly drink texture. (RRP : £1.25 for 100g)
What are your favourite snacks-on-the-go ?
Disclosure : We received the products in order to write an honest review.
