Madhouse recipe : Celebrating World Chocolate Day with McVitie's Tiffin !

Apparently, today is World Chocolate Day - no, I didn't know that either ! - and to mark the occasion, McVitie's sent us a lovely goodie bag containing everything we needed to create their luscious Chocolate Tiffin. Well, it would be rude not to !

McVitie's Chocolate Tiffin

ingredients :

250g dark chocolate (min 70% cocoa solids)
200g unsalted butter
2 tbsp golden syrup
150g roasted shelled hazelnuts, chopped
200g McVitie's Digestives, roughly chopped
150g dried figs, chopped into small pieces (or other dried fruit)
75g white chocolate

Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave or in a bain marie, along with the butter and golden syrup. If using the microwave, go for very short 5-second bursts, stirring in between, so it doesn't burn.

Crumble the digestive biscuits and add to the bowl, along with the chopped nuts and dried fruit. Give it all a good stir until evenly coated.

Press into a greased/lined square tin.

Melt the white chocolate and drizzle over the top.

Leave to cool in the fridge for a few hours then remove from the tin and cut into squares.

Happy World Chocolate Day !

Disclosure : I received a baking kit from McVitie's with all of the ingredients needed for the recipe.
