L.O.L. Surprise! review

L.O.L. Surprise!, the latest collectable craze from MGA Entertainment, is the gift that keeps on giving. It's a bit like a cross between a supersized Kinder egg surprise and pass the parcel because inside the funkily coloured ball, you get not one, not two, but SEVEN layers of fun surprises to discover.

Juliette couldn't wait to start pulling off the layers and learn more about L.O.L., which stands for Lil Outrageous Littles. She was slightly flummoxed to open the first layer and find it empty, until she realised there was a secret message that had come off with the paper.

Layer two revealed some cute little stickers that look like emojis.

In layer three, she uncovered a pink plastic bag, stamped with "Let me out of here !". What would be inside?

Ahh it was a little squishy bottle, that looks more like a bang-on-trend Mason Jar drinking glass than a babyish feeding bottle, no doubt making it more appealing to a slightly higher age range.

There was no stopping Juliette now and it was hard to keep up with the photos ! In the next secret compartment was another blind bag ...

This one contained a pair of slip-on shoes.

Through the round window (sorry, I came over all Playschool for a moment there, but I bet none of you are old enough to remember Big Ted, Little Ted, Humpty and Jemima !) there was her cute little outfit.

Finally, the heart of the sphere would reveal the final two surprises - the doll and another accessory, which for us was a dummy.

The clothes are easy to slip on but Juliette did giggle at the fact that they don't quite meet at the back so she was flashing her bum !

Each character is completely different, with over 45 dolls to collect in Series 1, including the ultra rare Gliteratti.

There is still one more (L.O.L.) Surprise awaiting you though, and this one requires water ! If you feed or bathe her (the half-sphere doubles up as a bathtub - see a couple of photos above), she will change colour, spit, tinkle or cry ! Our one spits, through the hole in her mouth where the dummy/bottle fits in.

I love the way the cleverly designed packaging fits back together as a little purse to store everything in, as well as working as a bathtub, dollstand and hangout. Tween-age girls will love collecting extra dolls so that they can swap over the accessories between them. I was a little shocked when I saw the price but Juliette thinks they're really cool and I'm sure she won't be alone.
