March #KitchenClearout roundup and April linky

March seemed to fly by, probably because I was snowed under at work so didn't have much time for cooking, and also because I had a week-long work trip to Norway. This month's roundup is therefore a bit short but sweet, but the school holidays are almost upon us so I'll catch up this month !

A nostalgic blast from the past, this school dinner-inspired Sticky Cornflake Tart was a great way of using up a jar of jam, a tin of golden syrup and a box of stale cornflakes.

Pulled Beef Stew was a no-fuss, throw-it-all-in-the-slow-cooker meal that used up a sachet of pulled pork seasoning mix that had been lurking in the cupboard for ages, as well as a bottle of BBQ sauce and all the sachets of ketchup that were cluttering up the fridge.

Moroccan Chicken used up a seasoning sachet as well as the ends of my bags of raisins and flaked almonds.

Aalo Ko Achar is a Nepalese potato salad and was a great way of using up lots of odds and ends from my spice rack.

Galina from Chez Maximka made a wonderful Strawberry Cake, using up half a pack of strawberry cake mix, some cream cheese frosting, the end of a jar of strawberry jam and a pot of yogurt in the fridge which nobody fancied. Full marks for the cake and full marks for the #KitchenClearout too !

Jane over at Onions and Paper surpassed herself this month - her Purple Sprouting Broccoli with Polenta looks restaurant-worthy and was a great way of using up some of her homegrown veggies, as well as odds and ends from the fridge and freezer.

Fancy joining in? Have a rummage through your kitchen cupboards, spice rack, freezer or fridge and see if there's anything that needs using up then come and share your creations with us. Or if it's way past its sell-by date, throw it in the bin and come and tell us what you found ! It would be great if you could add my badge and a link to this post for anyone else who wants to get involved.

  4. Yes, Ketjap Manis and Kicap Manis are the same thing, it's just a variation in the Romanisation of the text. When you're in the UK, you can get it in Waitrose or Sainsburys or Chinese stores like Hoo Hing and Wing Yip. In France I've seen it in Carrefour and Auchan, there are two brands I've seen there, one is called Conimex and has yellow label and the other has a red label but I can't remember the name.
