What's Cooking at The Madhouse? menu plan 3/11

Back to work and starting off with a nightmare of a week that will undo all the good that a fortnight off has just done. Monday and Tuesday are parent/teacher evenings so I won't get home until anywhere between 8-9pm. Thursday is the school board meeting so will be another late one - probably home somewhere around 8.30pm. And Friday is St Martin so we'll be looking for St Martin and his donkey in the streets, getting our carved sugarbeet judged (and picking up the sweets and volaaren (donkey poo-shaped choc chip bread!) that everyone wins) then heading home somewhere around 7.30/8pm. I'm tired just thinking about it so this week will be a week of freezer diving and school dinners because I'll need more than a salad for lunch if that's the main meal of the day !

Saturday

lunch - Time for the traditional KFC/Burger King/McDonald's option

dinner - homemade soup (I'm thinking lentil and bacon) - and maybe homemade bread to go with it

Sunday

lunch - roast dinner, probably chicken

dinner - leftovers from lunch or fridge grazing

Monday

dinner - if I'm organised, there will be something waiting in the slow cooker - coq au vin maybe? I have various seasoning sachets that need using up

Tuesday

dinner - a carton of soup (and cheese & ham toasties for the kids)

Wednesday

lunch - beefburgers, ratatouille and pasta

dinner - chicken curry & rice

Thursday

dinner - another carton of soup

Friday

dinner - grilled salmon with leeks & mash

  2. I need to invest in a blender to make homemade soup, our children love name cheese and beans toasties, we usually end up cooking separate meals for them when we have new potatoes, or curry and rice etc as they are so fussy xXx

    1. Just a cheap stick blender does the job for soup :) I give the kids first refusal on what we're having if it's spicy or exotic but I have kid friendly options in the freezer just in case - they are getting braver though !

  3. Mmmm leeks and mash, what a perfect side dish. Everything sounds delicious. I have not had Coq au Vin in years, this needs to change! Thank you for sharing with #MealPlanningMonday x
