What's Cooking at The Madhouse? menu plan 2018 week #13

Having a menu plan definitely helped keep us on track last week, especially for when I was dashing in and out from different appointments and needed to get something on the table quick. Next week will be calmer (not necessarily a good thing) so I'll add a few more elaborate (but child-friendly) dishes next week to keep me busy. I've noticed that with one less mouth to feed, we have more leftovers so I'll leave a couple of "joker" days so that the fridge doesn't overflow with Tupperware boxes !

Saturday

lunch - The traditional fast food visit - apparently it will be KFC this week. (Pierre's choice)

dinner - bacon & split pea soup

Sunday

lunch - roast chicken & all the trimmings

dinner - chicken soup (or maybe fridge grazing if the kids don't want soup two days in a row)

Monday

lunch - chicken & mushroom pie if there are leftovers, chicken parmesan if there aren't, with baby potatoes & veg

dinner - spaghetti bolognese

Tuesday

lunch - cottage pie

dinner - leftovers or omelette

Wednesday

lunch - chicken cordon bleu, cheesy leek mash & peas/carrots

dinner - quiche & salad

Thursday

lunch - shashlik kebabs, ebly & ratatouille

dinner - creamy chicken & bacon with rice & veg

Friday

lunch - fish fingers, rice & peas or sweetcorn

dinner - beef maffĂ© (an African stew with peanut butter, beef, potatoes, ...)

  1. Thinking of you. I can't imagine what you and your family are going through but it sounds like the routine helps.
You have some lovely meals planned x

    1. Life goes on, fortunately or unfortunately, especially with kids to keep on track, so we're just taking one day at a time. Menu planning does help, as we're shopping locally without a car now ... we're actually coping better than I thought we would with all the day to day stuff.

  2. Oh my lovely, I am so sorry I have not got round to commenting sooner. I am so so so sorry for your loss, I am sending all my love, thoughts and wishes to you all. I am in awe that you have still meal planned but as Kim says having a routine must help. Take care and look after yourself and the kids xxx

    1. Thanks Kirsty - dealing with the day-to-day stuff like cooking and menu planning gets us through the days. I'm not entirely sure it's sunk in yet really :-/
