Moxie Girlz Magic Snow

I have a confession to make. I've always had a bit of a problem with the brandname Moxie Girlz because, before I'd ever heard of them as dolls, I was aware of the Australian brand of tampons called, you've guessed it, Moxie ! But needless to say, with two young daughters, I've since been converted and even I got excited when we were asked to review the Moxie Girlz Magic Snow doll.

For those of you who don't know the Moxie Girlz yet - and where have you been hiding ?! - there are four of them : Lexa, Bria, Avery and Sophina. Their slogan is "Be true ! Be you !" and the website explains : "Every girl has the strength to do something amazing. Anything is possible as long as you stay true to yourself and never give up on your dreams". Moxie stands for Positive Attitude and Confidence, the Courage to go for it and Energy in everything you do. This healthy, wholesome attitude is reflected in the dolls' natural beauty and normal teenage (as opposed to overtly sexy and revealing) clothes, showing them as more interested in having fun with their friends and being sporty than worrying about overly grown-up clothes and make-up. As a mum to a 5 and 9-year-old, I have to say, I like these dolls as role-models for my girls.

We received the Avery doll. The website tells us : "Strong, determined, and energetic, Avery believes anyone can do anything if they put their heart in it and really go for it. Avery is captain of her volleyball team, head of the rock climbing club, and spends her weekends, skateboarding, snowboarding, biking and updating her blog. Avery is super busy but always has time for her friends !"
The pack shot doesn't show how beautiful her long wavy hair is - little girls (and sometimes, even their mums if I'm honest !) just can't resist brushing it and plaiting it and tying it up and changing her clothes and accessories. Oh - the accessories ! Did I not mention, she comes with a super funky gold fur-trimmed cap, a gold-trimmed scarf and a lovely glitzy handbag. Just because they like sport, it doesn't mean they don't care about their looks ! As she's so active, there's also a sledge and a snowman so she can play and - cue squeals of delight ! - there's a snowflake filled with tiny polystyrene snowflakes so you can make it snow. Hmmm can I get the vacuum cleaner out now, please ?!

I love the fact that the doll comes with so many bits and pieces. It means that you can immediately play and make up stories without having to save up your pocket money to buy extra clothes and accessories, although obviously you can (and probably will) continue adding to your collection.

Lots of little girls will undoubtedly be delighted to receive these on Christmas morning. They will certainly provide Moxie-mum enjoyment !
