Jordans Juicy Red Berries Frusli

We seem to be having a bit of a red berry theme going on today here at The Madhouse - I've just reviewed Method's Limited Edition Fresh Currant Hand Wash too ! Maybe it's because of all those festive holly berries I keep seeing everywhere !

A little while ago, I reviewed the Juicy Apple & Sultana Frusli bars, and this time we tried the Juicy Red Berries ones. That's actually a very good thing because 5-year-old Juliette loves strawberries and doesn't understand that you can't really eat them all year round. Well, to be fair to her, they do sell them at the supermarket and the local market whatever the season but, not only do they cost a fortune, they also taste of nothing so I'd rather wait until the summer and get some really succulent ones.

As soon as she saw the pictures of a strawberry on the box of Frusli bars, Juliette wanted to taste one - in fact we all did ! So I dished them out and we had a munch. Hmmmm they taste lovely and fresh and, as the name says, juicy, with the berry pieces adding a delicious sweet but tangy flavour to the bars. If you've been following my blog, you'll know that we've been making flapjacks lately, using Jordans porridge oats, and while the Frusli bars have the same freshly-baked, chewy texture, they're much juicier and zingier with the addition of the dried cranberries, raisins, strawberries and raspberries. The bars contain 25% fruit, which explains why they are so juicy.

But as well as providing a great-tasting healthy bar that is perfect for sensible snacking or for packing in your kids' lunchboxes, buying Frusli actually helps British wildlife. The box proudly bears a Conservation Grade logo which shows that Jordans employ nature friendly farmers who help to protect and encourage local wildlife.

Every time Juliette says she wants strawberries, she'll be getting a Juicy Red Berries Frusli bar until the summer (and the juicy sweet strawberries) rolls around again. There seem to be no complaints so far !
