Ribena Juiced Up

When Ribena kindly offered to send me some Juiced Up to try out with the kids, I was happy enough, expecting to find a variation of their high-quality blackcurrant squash. Then the cartons arrived and I was blown away - this is real fruit juice, not just squash.

As Ribena explain : "Squeezed into every carton is a nutritious mix of 85% natural fruit juices and 15% water - and absolutely nothing else. In fact, Ribena Juiced Up! counts as one of your 5-a-day of fruit and vegetables!" I don't have too much trouble getting fruit and vegetables into the girls' diet but for any parents of reluctant or picky eaters, that's great news.

Taste-wise, you just have to look at the photos to see what the girls thought. They tried the raspberry one and said it was delicious and refreshing. It is very sweet but there are no added sugars - all the sweetness comes from the fruit content. The ingredients list is amazingly short. For the raspberry one : Fruit juices from concentrate 85% (apple, pear, raspberry purée (8%) and aronia) and water (15%). For the Apple & Blackcurrant one : Fruit juices from concentrate 85% (apple (60%), grape, blackcurrant (12%)) and water (15%).

For once, the girls managed to stab the straw into the carton without too much difficulty and, all importantly, without making the juice squirt out all over the place, so that's another plus point. I'll definitely be stocking up on these for picnics in the park and drinks on the go.
