Peppa Pig's Party Time iPad app review

A couple of weeks ago, I was sent through a code for trying out Peppa Pig's brand new iPad app called Peppa Pig's Party Time but, what with our holiday in Turkey then Pierre's christening in Brittany, today has been the first day that I've had the chance to download it and put it on the iPad. It's been on the go non-stop ever since !

As the name suggests, the app takes you through a wide variety of activities based around Peppa's birthday party. It seems as if the app designers have thought of everything ! It starts off with the party planning, where you have to make invitations, party bags and a cake. Then there's the party itself with some fun games to play - Musical Chairs, Pinata, Pass the Parcel.

Each mini game only takes a couple of minutes to play, but (if they're anything like the Madhouse Mini-testers) your kids will play them over and over and over again ! The bright colours, simple games and recognisable music and voices from TV all make the whole thing highly appealing to young players.

You can choose up to 3 profiles when you first open the app - perfect for 2-year-old Pierre, 6-year-old Juliette and 10-year-old Sophie - but what I really love (because it avoids endless squabbling !) is that some of the games can be single or multi-player. For some of the party games, for example, you need to select four characters to play with during the game, each one being moved to a corner of the screen, so by telling each player to control one character, up to four kids can easily play together. Pierre hasn't played much on the iPad yet but he had no trouble at all sticking pictures all over the party bags, tapping on the pass the parcel box to remove a layer of paper or pulling on the pinata ribbons and he absolutely loved being able to get involved.

Juliette was also over the moon to discover that the app had been sneakily taking photos all the time she'd been playing and that she could go through selecting the snaps she liked best to fill up her very own Birthday Party photo album.

The app actually hit no 1 in the overall iPad chart and I can see why. It definitely gets top marks from us here at The Madhouse.

  3. Hi Otilia,

You go to itunes store then right over on the right hand side bar, there's a bit that says "redeem code". Click through, enter the code and it magically knows which app to give you. Hope this helps :)
