Fancy stepping back in time to a 1945 Christmas? Quick, it's your last chance !

If you fancy a festive step back in time, the 1940s House at IWM (Imperial War Museum) London is perfect for a family visit this Christmastime. The house, which is at the heart of the well-loved family exhibition The Children’s War, is all dressed up for a traditional Christmas in 1945 and this is the last chance to see it before the exhibition closes on 2 January 2012.

Snow has fallen overnight on the house, and inside, preparations for Christmas are being made and the scene is warm and inviting. See the festive food waiting in the kitchen and look around the cosy sitting room that has been bedecked with original garlands and baubles.

You can have a sneaky peek in the video below :

And look out for a competition coming very soon here on my blog for some vintage gifts from the IWM shop.

  2. Wow. Just came back from London, didn't go here though. We did the Science museum instead - must make sure we do this one next visit.

  3. My parents used to hang christmas cards over a piece of string/wool on the wall with drawing pins, and that was in the 60's/70's. I had forgot all about that
