Children's book review : Dog Loves Drawing - Louise Yates

Dog Loves Drawing is the latest offering from Louise Yates, following on from Dog Loves Books, a book that we haven't read here at The Madhouse but that I will definitely have to find after seeing how much Pierre loved this one. It tells the lovely story of Dog receiving a drawing book as a gift and drawing himself a huge exciting adventure that he can step into (and, when necessary, out of !).

2-year-old Pierre was instantly swept away by the imaginative tale and joined in enthusiastically with the reading, making animal noises ...

... pointing out things in the pictures ...

... being totally absorbed by the illustrations ...

... and making scary monster noises !

It was great to see him interacting so much with the story and obviously understanding exactly what was going on because he was telling me things about what Dog was doing as we turned the pages. It's a lovely way of inspiring children to use their imagination, get artistic and create their own imaginary worlds for drawing, playtime and story-telling. Dog is a lovely character and this is definitely a book that will be read many times. It's currently Pierre's potty book that he looks at by himself several times a day while he's sitting on the potty !

We reviewed another of Louise Yates' books - Frank & Teddy Make Friendshere.
