Weight Watchers Sicilian Lemonade review

One of the things that I received in the latest Weight Watchers hamper (that I told you about here) was this bottle of Sicilian Lemonade. The label explains that it is made with Sicilian lemons, is low calorie and has no added sugar, although it contains naturally occuring sugars from the lemons.

I twisted the lid and was greeted with a refreshingly loud fizz. As I poured it in a glass, I was slightly disconcerted by the huge amount of bubbles that appeared, but within a few seconds - just the time to put the lid back on and put the bottle back in the fridge - it had calmed down and was pleasantly fizzy, not overly fizzy so that it stings your nose and makes you burp like some fizzy drinks !

The taste didn't really remind me of other diet lemonades I've drunk because it has a more natural lemony flavour and none of the artificial tang that you get with many artificial sweeteners. Sophie had a sip and wasn't keen, which seems to confirm that it's a more grown-up, sophisticated version of lemonade. Having said all that, I haven't actually drunk any lemonade, whatever the brand, for ages, being more of a Diet Coke girl at heart.

For anyone on Weight Watchers' ProPoints programme, the great news is that a 250ml serving contains zero points. That is the same as any other diet sodas though. For anyone counting calories, that converts to 3 calories per 250ml glass.

Ingredients-wise, it contains Carbonated Water, Sicilian Lemon Juice from Concentrate (2%), Citric Acid, Flavourings, Preservative (Potassium Sorbate), Sweeteners (Acesulfame-K, Sucralose).

It's a lovely, light, refreshing drink, prefect served over ice on a hot summer's afternoon.

star rating : 4/5

RRP : £1.29 for 2 litres
