Anyway Up cup review

*** Don't miss my giveaway to win a trio of Anywayup Bird Cups right here on my blog ! ***

Pierre turned three this summer and, in exactly one week, will be starting school - eeeek, where does the time go ?! At the moment, he still likes to have a bottle of toddler milk at breakfast time, especially as he often drinks it lying down in bed as he slowly wakes up, but I'm thinking it may be time to phase out the bottles and move on exclusively to sippy cups. The problem is, they're often a bit hit and miss. Some leak, some are really hard to suck out of and some have spouts so soft that they're bitten through within a week. When the opportunity arose to review some Anyway Up Cups, I jumped at the chance - with a name like that, they sounded ideal. But would they live up to their claims ?

The first thing I noticed is that they are really hard to open - the lid takes a couple of minutes and a lot of effort (and often whispered swearing !) to prise off when you want to fill it or wash it - but that does mean that they are absolutely leakproof. Another thing I love as a parent is that the lid has an in-built valve so there's nothing to take apart and reassemble when you wash up and it's easier to keep clean.

As you can see in the top two photos, Pierre tried one-handed and two-handed drinking before putting it to the ultimate test and lying on the armchair (at Madhouse Nanny and Grandad's house) drinking almost upside down. We all waited with bated breath and ... nothing happened ! No leaks whatsoever and it was still really easy to drink out of, unlike some bottles or beakers that will only work at certain angles because there is a tube that sucks up drink from the bottom of the cup.

The Anywayup Classic Beaker is designed for children aged 12 months +, but much older children still enjoy drinking out of them, as 7-year-old Juliette proves (again drinking lying down in the armchair with no spillages  at all). We've continued to test the cups in the car and out and about (rolling about in the bottom of the pushchair) and they passed the test both times too.

Looks like you really can use them anywayup with no leaks or spills. Now if only they were slightly easier to get open !

  8. I am so happy to have seen your review and comp mentioning the cow cups. I LOVED the cow cups with Lara but couldn't find any replacements earlier this year when I was looking for a friend for one. Amadeus who used to make them went out of business and so I stopped looking. Now i am so happy to have found them for sale again.

  9. These cups sound like the answer to all of my prayers. I'm fed up of being constantly showered by juice as my wee one waves her arms about frantically - or having my walls decorated with whatever she has in her cup at the time!
