Warburtons Half & Half Rolls review

Following the successful launch of Half & Half Medium and Half & Half Toastie loaves, Warburtons have added a new product to the range, Half & Half Sliced Rolls. They sent us through a bag to try out.

Back in December, we took part in a Fibre Diary challenge for Warburtons and, having analysed our fibre intake over 3 days, they decided that we should up our levels a bit. That's easy enough for the grown-ups - we both love the taste of brown, wholemeal and granary bread - but the Madhouse Mini-testers turn their noses up at the "gritty" texture and much prefer white bread. We found the Half and Half loaves to be a happy compromise so had high expectations for the Half & Half rolls.

The rolls do look slightly brown and are slightly drier than white baps but they're still much softer than brown or wholemeal bread. I absolutely love the fact that they're pre-sliced. Not only is it a great timesaver, it saves having to clear up messy crumbs when making a packed lunch and it also means that the younger kids can make their own rolls with very little effort so they feel all grown up !

I made some ham and cucumber rolls and everyone tucked in with gusto, even Pierre and Juliette who are notorious white-bread-only munchers ! It appears that I was the only one to know that they are made from a blend of 50% white and 50% wholemeal flour because nobody commented at all. I've promised we'll make hamburgers with the remaining rolls.

Each roll contains 144 calories, 2.5g of fat (of which 0.4g saturates) and 2.2g of fibre. This compares to 145 calories, 2.5g of fat (of which 0.7g saturates) and 1.3g of fibre for a standard Warburtons white roll.

If you're looking for an easy way to sneak extra fibre into your or your kids' diet, this is certainly an easy swap to make.
