Kids' app review : Miffy At School

On one of my latest giveaways, I asked you to name your favourite childhood TV hero and it's been a real trip down memory lane seeing some of your answers - Jamie & The Magic Torch, Will o' the Wisp and Wizardora are all programmes I used to love but had forgotten all about. Some characters have more staying power though. I mentioned on my Sooty DVD giveaway post that the little bear will be 65 this year and, not to be outdone, Miffy will be celebrating her 58th birthday next month too.

We received a code to discover Miffy's latest app, Miffy At School. It's an app which can be used on two levels, either as a simple story app for younger users to listen to, or as a more interactive game with little activities for slightly older children to get involved in. 3-year-old Pierre and 7-year-old Juliette have both been having great fun playing the little games.

Their favourites are the drawing activity (within the story) and the building blocks game, which are both incredibly simple but have kept them amused for ages ! There is also a memory game and the possibility of creating an e-card to send. Within the interactive storybook, there are other little activities, such as tracing a path with a ball, counting with an abacus and recognising shapes.

There is also an option to read and record the story which we haven't used yet but which I think is a lovely feature. It would be great to get grandparents or other "special people" reading it or it could also be used as encouragement for a beginner reader to read out loud.

The simple storyline of Miffy going to school really appealed to the Madhouse Mini-testers and this would be a great app for toddlers about to head off to nursery or school in a few months' time who need a little reassurance.
