Picture book review : My Big Animal Book

You can immediately see from Pierre's huge grin what he thought of My Big Animal Book, a lovely hardbacked picture book that was sent through from Tick Tock, the children's imprint of Octopus Books.

As soon as you open the front cover, you are faced with lots of colourful photos of jungle animals, accompanied with interesting facts and figures. Pierre loved looking at the pictures and naming the animals while Juliette liked reading the short texts and getting cries of "wow" from Pierre but also big sister Sophie.

Each page focuses on one animal, from the well-known domestic animals like cats and cows to the more exotic ones such as elephants and lions. You learn about the animals' habitat, diet, lifestyle and numerous other special secrets - even as a grown up, I learnt a couple of things !

The book targets little readers aged 5-7 years, but as you can see, 4-year-old Pierre and 8-year-old Juliette both loved it. Even 12-year-old Sophie secretly read it from cover to cover after they'd gone to bed and she thought I wasn't looking !
