Mr Muscle Touch Up Cleaner review

Mr Muscle recently sent me through some of their new Touch Up Cleaner to review. I received two different fragrances - the lovely zesty citrus fragrance that is designed for kitchens and the more subtle ocean shore fragrance for bathrooms and toilets.

The press release explains : "Mr Muscle Touch-Up Cleaner offers a fast and convenient solution to kill 99.99% of bacteria and clean the most frequently used surfaces in your home. The inventive new design makes it easy to clean surfaces and kill bacteria; simply push down on the pump to apply the formula onto a cleaning material such as a paper towel, cleaning cloth or sponge. Then, just wipe the surface clean and you’re done!"

I've been doing lots of baking with the kids recently which is great fun but tends to make a lot of mess ! Perfect for trying out the new cleaners ! As you can see, the table is covered with streaks of butter, dribbled egg and cake batter which missed the bowl !

After twisting the lid the first time you use it to open the dispenser, a quick press on the bottle is all that's needed to squirt out the product onto the cloth.

As you can see, you get a decent amount of product - just enough for a quick wipe - and it's wet enough to tackle stubborn dirt while not being overly soggy.

A quick wipe and my table top was gleaming.

I must admit, I was initially sceptical. The supposedly unique selling point is that it helps you clean small messes before they become big ones, but this is true of all cleaning products. Having trialled the products, I can see definite advantages though. I love the hands-free design which is excellent for preventing the spread of germs and mess - imagine you're handling raw meat and have blood all over your fingers or you've just been touching filthy bins or you've been finger painting with the kids ... Usually you need to open the cupboard door, get out the bottle and action the spray, spreading germs/mess in all three areas. With the Touch Up Cleaner, it is designed to be left out (ours lives next to the washing up liquid behind the sink) so you just grab a piece of disposable kitchen roll, press down on that then throw the whole thing away afterwards without having to touch anything.

I love the convenience of having it constantly at hand too. I've left the second bottle on the back of the toilet cistern. With three kids in the house, it's always great to have a quick wipe over the door handle, flush lever and toilet seat with a piece of toilet roll that I can then flush away - it takes literally seconds and I'm safe in the knowledge that it kills 99.9% of bacteria.

In terms of cleaning, it is just as effective as my usual cleaner. I also think it is a more eco-friendly option than my usual quick-fix solution of disposable wipes.

star rating : 4.5/5
