Very Hungry Caterpillar activity packs (for Very Happy Kids !)

As I told you last year, 2014 sees a very special birthday for the Very Hungry Caterpillar - he's 45 years young ! We've been trying out lots of the gorgeous Very Hungry Caterpillar goodies that have been launched to celebrate the occasion and this month, we received this lovely selection.

The placemats are brilliant. They have fun activities for the kids to do while they're waiting for their meal.

Some are simpler than others, which is great if you have several children of different ages.

And some are even educational. They reminded us of the activity sheet placements that you often get in kid-friendly restaurants and, while they're not something that we'd usually use at the table, they're a brilliant idea for keeping the kids settled during long family meals (having French family, long family meals for special occasions means literally spending all afternoon at the table) or at kids' parties. £5.99 for a pack of 30 sounds like a bargain to me - they're available at Debenhams.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Carry Pack is a treasure trove of activities designed to be carried by youngsters to wherever they want to play. Unfortunately, Pierre found this slightly too irresistible and carried it straight to his childminder's house before I could get any photos of him with it ! He has apparently been having great fun with it though. It contains 2 double-sided wipe-clean pages, stickers, a colouring poster and height chart, as well as a press-out door hanger. Again, great value at £3.99.

There is also a smaller Activity Fun Pack (which disappeared to the childminder's with the Carry Pack) which contains a colouring pad with coloured pencils and stickers. This would be perfect for keeping in the car (or mum's handbag) for long journeys or as a boredom buster when you know you'll be hanging around for ages in a doctor's waiting room or other appointment. It also costs £3.99.

Well, as Pierre sabotaged this review by being over-enthusiastic in his desire to take his his new kits to show his childminder, I'll finish with a photo of a different Very Hungry Caterpillar craft kit - the mask pack that I told you about last month !

The Very Hungry Caterpillar will be celebrating his 45th birthday on 21st March 2014 so if you want to join in with the celebrations, head on over to www.eric-carle.com or join in on the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TheWorldofEricCarle.

Disclosure : We received the products in order to write an honest review.
