Beond Organic Açai Berry Bar review

When I plucked a Beond (why not call it Beyond? Ah OK, let them off - it says on the label that it's named after Beo, an ancient god of agriculture and beo which means bee in old English) Organic Açai Berry Bar out of the cupboard for breakfast, I thought it would be a cereal bar of some shape or form. Glancing at the positive words plastered across the packaging - raw, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, soya-free, no added sugar, bio, organic ... - I inwardly sighed. Surely something that healthy is going to be lacking in taste? Well, actually I was pleasantly surprised.

It's not a cereal bar at all, it's a mixture of raw dates, raw almonds, raw raspberry powder, raw açai powder and organic raspberry flavour. It reminds me very much of the inside of a fig roll, without the outside biscuit part. It's tasty - very sweet and fruity with a definite raspberry flavour - but I found it a bit mushy and lacking in texture.

Each 40g bar contains 162 calories, 5.6g of protein, 14.2g of carbs of which 13.1g sugar, 8.4g of fat of which 0.8g saturates and 3.7g of fibre.
