One World Futbol review

Well, the World Cup may be over but that doesn't mean Pierre has stopped being a footie fan ! He was over the moon to receive a One World Futbol to review. This clever ball is designed to be almost indestructible because it won't go flat, even if  punctured multiple times, and it doesn't need a pump.

We've been taking it to the park where Juliette and Pierre have been having great fun playing catch with it.

It is harder than a normal football though, so it does hurt more if it smacks you in the face !

It's great for throwing and bouncing. It bounces very well if you want to see how many times you can bounce it on the spot, but it has actually been designed with a lower bounce rate  so it is less likely to go over the neighbour’s fence !

It's great for kicking too and it's been getting a really good workout over the past few weeks, as have the kids !

The idea for the One World Futbol was born when Tim Jahnigen was watching news footage about traumatised refugee children in Darfur playing football on dirt, using a ball made from twine. Tim realised there was a global need for a nearly indestructible ball that could withstand the harsh conditions often faced by young people living in refugee camps, disaster areas and other disadvantaged communities. It stayed in the concept stage until a conversation with global music icon Sting, who understood Tim's vision and provided the initial funding to research and develop a One World Futbol prototype.

In recognition of Sting's crucial early support, the name of the ball and company are based on his song "One World (Not Three)". The One World Futbol has now reached more than 165 countries, bringing the joy and healing power of play to millions of children worldwide.

At £33, it is a lot more expensive than most other footballs you will find in toy or sports shops, but, as well as getting a ball that won't need replacing every time play gets a bit rough, you can also get a warm fuzzy feeling from the "Buy One, Give One" programme, which allows you to choose a project partner organisation to receive a donated ball from you when you buy one from www.oneworldfutbol.com.

Disclosure : We received the product in order to write an honest review.

  1. I like the look of the football (futbol). Great idea being indestructible. Also the buy one / donate one is a charitable and kind gesture. Maybe one to be encouraged. Though that may be difficult for some given the present economic climate. Maybe more Celebrities could be encouraged to participate e.g. David Beckham, as he has retired from football and is rich. He could encourage youngsters to take up the game, be active thus encouraging a healthy lifestyle. Maybe present footballers could also support this charity, as they get good income. Whilst they could encourage the sport, thus encouraging a healthy lifestyle etc.
