An early delivery for December's Degustabox

When the postman dropped off this month's Degustabox, my initial thought was "blimey, that's come round fast, where on earth is the time going ?" - then I realised that they've brought the delivery dates forward this month for Christmas. Phew !

There were a few more brands that we've already tried in this month's Degustabox, but luckily they are all brands that we like and were happy to rediscover and learn more about. Here's what we found after some excited unpacking :

Popchips Barbeque Potato Chips (£1.79) - These taste as great as regular crisps but they are popped with heat and pressure rather than baked or fried, giving them a unique texture. They contain half the fat of fried crisps and only 100 calories per serving - I also love the fact that you don't get greasy fingers when you eat them.

Bonne Maman Coarse Orange Marmalade (£2.30) - Bonne Maman make exceptionally good preserves so we were excited when we spotted a jar in the box. We were disppointed to see that it's marmalade though - we were hoping for jam - so I'll be passing this on to a friend as it won't get eaten at The Madhouse.

Eisberg (£3.49) - Alcohol-free wine, you're either going to love it or hate it ! Due to some new medication, Madhouse Grandad is very miffed at having to go alcohol-free this Christmas and New Year so this will be a welcome addition to the Christmas dinner table. I used to drink this when I was pregnant or breastfeeding and didn't want to feel left out at special occasions when everyone else was drinking. It also has the added advantage of containing a third of the calories of normal wine.

Pukka Clean Green (£2.39) - "Spring clean your spirit with nature’s finest fairly-traded clean green herbs. Let them dance in your cup for a while to release the zing of whole Sicilian lemons and the freshness of dandelion root. One sip and you’re ready to sparkle." I know lots of people like to detox at the start of January so this would be a great way to do that. Not something I like the sound of though, so I'll be passing this on to a work colleague who loves herbal teas and infusions.

Bahlsen Choco Leibniz (£1.79 x2)  - Ahhh much less healthy but definitely more up our street ! Finest milk chocolate wrapped around a delicate crisp butter biscuit, hiding a filling of delicious soft caramel. They are as utterly delicious as they sound. Don't mind if I do !

The Chia Co Oats + Chia (£1.70) - I reviewed some of The Chia Co.'s products a few weeks ago (here) and we all loved the porridge, which has a healthy addition of chia seeds. Chia seed offers the highest combined plant source of omega-3, fibre and protein, and is packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
These ‘just add water’ oats deliver a smooth and creamy texture, without dairy. At 200 calories per serving they make a great healthy breakfast or light evening meal, perfect for the healthy eating that is sure to kick in in the New Year !

Kent's Kitchen Meal Kit (£2.50) - I got to sample the Bengal meal kit in a previous Degustabox, this time we'll be trying out the Brazilian Moqueca Capixaba one, which I'm very excited about. I'll let you know how we get on. The kit contains a capixaba paste pot, a lemon & coriander seasoning pot and infused garlic oil. You need to add the fresh ingredients - white fish, onion and a tin of tomatoes.

Fry Light Infuse Chili (£2) -  Frylight’s new Infuse cooking spray range helps you to season all sorts of pan fried and roasted food at the touch of a button. We got the chilli - I think I'd have preferred the garlic oil one - which is great for adding some instant flavour to the simplest of dishes, such as squirting over roasted vegetables or onto steak or chicken breast. We also have the BBQ Fry Light already which is great for adding an extra smoky flavour to grilled or barbecued food.

Gloworm (£1.50 x4) -  Gloworm is the first premium mixer of its kind, specifically blended to compliment a selection of spirits. The unique formula is sugar-free and taurine-free and is available in 4 flavours: Raspberry & Orris for Vodka, Cucumber & Apple for Gin, Pear, Spice& Lime for Rum, Ginger & Lemongrass for Bourbon. Sounds perfect for sampling on New Year's Eve !

A Degustabox subscription costs £12.99 per month, delivery included, and they guarantee that the value of the products will be at least that, and often a lot more. (This one has a value of about £25.) As always, I have a £3 discount code that you can use if you want to try out Degustabox for yourselves - put in code X4LWP at the checkout.
