Fruit Bowl Fruit Frollipops review

The Madhouse kids love eating fresh fruit but give them the choice between fruit and sweets and, like all kids, I have no doubt what they'd choose ! Fruit Bowl recently sent us through some of their Fruit Frollipops to try out and they are the perfect compromise - fun tasty lollipops made from concentrated fruit juices that even count as one of your child’s five-a-day (based on one child’s portion of 50g of fresh equivalent fruit).

They come in two different shapes and flavours. Apple Snakes (made with apple and pear juice).

And Strawberry Rockets (made with apple, pear and strawberry juice). The ingredients list looks too good to be true - they contain 90% concentrated fruit juice, gelling agent (pectin, carrageenan, gellan gum), dried fruit (pineapple and banana), acidity regulator (lactic acid), concentrates (carrot and pumpkin in the apple ones, carrot and blackcurrant in the strawberry ones) and natural apple flavour in the apple ones. Each 15g Frollipop provides just 46 calories with no added sugar, artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

They taste really lovely and fruity (I'd be tempted to eat these myself !) and they're a fabulous alternative to sweets or biscuits. Each Frollipop is like a little fruity Tardis because 100g of Apple Snakes contains an average 392g of apple, 139g of pear juice, 28g of pineapple and 7g of banana and 100g of Strawberry Rockets contains an average 392g of apple, 139g of pear juice, 14g of strawberry juice, 28g of pineapple and 7g of banana. Where do they put it all ?!

The only slight downside is the price -  at £2.00 for a pack of 5 individually wrapped Frollipops, they are considerably more expensive than most of the unhealthy sweet treat options or other dried fruit snacks. As a special treat or for lunchboxes, I'd buy them though and I'll definitely be looking out for them on special offer. They currently have a competition on their Facebook page that you might like to enter too - I've just tried my luck so fingers crossed !
