Good Night Anti-Snoring Ring (review)

Do you snore ? No of course you don't. Do you know anyone who actually admits to snoring?! Well, Madhouse Daddy does sometimes, because I give him a little shove in the back when it's too annoying so he can't deny it, and on occasion, he snores so loudly that he actually wakes himself up ! OK, I'll admit it too - I snore sometimes too, especially when I've got a bunged up nose from hayfever or a cold and I have to breathe through my mouth.

If you share your bed with a snorer and it stops you getting a good night's sleep, help is at hand - the Good Night Anti-Snoring Ring could provide some welcome relief. It's just a very plain-looking ring that you wear on your little finger - perfectly unisex, adjustable and available in three sizes so there's no excuse for the men not to try it !

Now, I have to admit, I was very sceptical. How could wearing a ring stop you snoring? Then I saw the rather impressive result of an independent clinical survey that claims that it reduces snoring in 85% of wearers. That's a convincingly high success rate so I investigated a bit further. The ring has two bumps, called "acu-activators" which stimulate specific acupressure points on the finger. I'm still a bit sceptical about the whole concept of acupressure to be honest, but I know a lot of people are firm believers (it's been around for 3,500 years after all !) and having used Sea Bands frequently with the Madhouse kids, I do now trust in their effectiveness for travel sickness, and they use the same technique.

So does it work ? Well, as Madhouse Daddy doesn't snore every single night, it was a bit hit and miss finding the best time to test it. On one occasion, as he'd been snoring slightly when he fell asleep in front of the telly, I told him to try the ring when we went up to bed. He didn't snore at all for the rest of the night but whether this was a pure coincidence or proof of the ring doing its magic is anyone's guess !

The problem with this kind of product is that you can never be sure it will work, but the manufacturers have covered this by offering a 30-day money back guarantee if it doesn't work for you. (Don't give up immediately either - apparently it can take a few days for the effects to kick in.) It is a very discreet and unembarrasing piece of equipment, unlike many of the snoring aids that you need to stick on your nose or in your mouth, so if snoring is a problem for you, it's got to be worth giving it a try. Although a swift jab in the back of a sleeping/snoring partner does seem to be pretty effective too *evil grin* !
