Madhouse Diaries : Some Hair-raising styles !

As we were wandering about the Artcubus festival, we couldn't help but have a little giggle at this girl's hair. Pippi Longstocking eat your heart out !

Then we saw this equally weird and wonderful style that reminded us of the Oompa-Loompas !

When a third bizarre hair-do, this one complete with hanging fish, passed in front of us, we knew we had to investigate further.

It turns out that it was Skriewer, a Belgian street theatre group who (amongst other things) create wild and wacky hairstyles using pretty much anything - plastic figures, fake flowers, wire to bend ponytails into strange shapes, dozens of cans of coloured hair spray ...

When you sit in the chair, you have no idea what they will transform your hair into. I bet nobody expected a palm tree complete with lions sunning themselves on it and a couple of rhino and zebras wandering underneath !

There are no mirrors so you have to wait until it's finished and somebody shows you a photo to see what you look like !

Even if you have very short hair, you can get involved - they have special hair "glue" and endless hairgrips that can hold even fairly heavy things like this winged avenger in place.

The Madhouse kids couldn't be tempted to have a go but we had great fun watching the makeovers ... then taking surreptitious photos as we walked around !

Now this would be a great answer to "Mum, can I have a goldfish?"!

Battle of the dinosaurs.

I spy a little rubber duckie !

If you want to have a look at more of their designs, you can check out their website - definitely worth a giggle !
