Our Brioche Pasquier #MacaronManicure Party

In honour of Galentine's Day (in case you don't know, that's the day before Valentine's day, for girlie get togethers to show how much you love your female friends), Come Round asked me to host a Brioche Pasquier #MacaronManicure party. I have to admit, I wasn't sure how macarons and manicures would go together, but we all love Brioche Pasquier (well, you have to with a name like ours - Sophie has convinced half of her schoolfriends that her grandad founded the company !) so we knew it would be good !

We received heaps of Brioche Pasquier branded goodies to hand out to the guests - cute manicure sets, emery boards and nail buffers, reuseable shopping bags, ... - as well as some utterly delicious Brioche Pasquier Macarons to delicately nibble on. They come frozen so I wasn't sure how they would compare to the beautifully light and gooey macarons that we occasionally eat straight from posh French patisseries, but we were pleasantly surprised - they're just as delicious and equally light.

The girls soon spotted that the nail varnish colours matched the macaron flavours.

Which one would you choose first? Pale green/pistachio, pink/raspberry, cream/vanilla, brown/chocolate, beige/coffee or yellow/lemon?

We soon turned our front room into a nail bar !

I jokily said that you had to eat the flavour to match your nails.

So mismatched nails were the way to go, then you got to sample them all !

The macarons have the perfect slightly crisp texture that gives way to softness then a gooey filling. The flavours are really well defined, which isn't always the case with macarons.

The pretty pastel colours make them look really special too. If you serve them alongside delicate cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off, you could pretend you were having tea at The Ritz !

They cost £12.99 for 36, making them 36p each - quite reasonable when compared to the price of the ones bought in patisseries. And definitely much more palatable than my one totally failed attempt at making macarons, which the Madhouse kids nicknamed monster poo !

While the girls had fun painting their nails, the boys (of all ages !) transformed the bags into swings and had sack races with them. They kept popping over for a cheeky macaron though !

Who said Galentine's Day parties were just for girls ?!

As Juliette's birthday is on 14th February, I think this is going to turn into a new tradition. I bet she'll want macarons and manicures every year now !

Disclosure : We received a party pack from Brioche Pasquier/Come Round.
