Giveaway #604 : Win 2 x The Missing Series Two on DVD - closed - winners Karl Borowy, Tracy K Nixon

Following the huge success of BBC drama The Missing, the hard-hitting series returns with a brand new case and a new all-star cast including Keeley Hawes (Line of Duty) and David Morrissey (The Walking Dead), as the parents of a missing child, and TchĂ©ky Karyo (The Patriot), reprises his role as tenacious missing persons detective Julien Baptiste. The Missing Series Two is set to arrive on DVD and Blu-ray in December courtesy of RLJ Entertainment’s Acorn Label, following its run on BBC One, a couple of months ago.

The year is 2014 and a young British woman stumbles through the streets of a small town in Germany and collapses. Her name is Alice Webster (Abigail Hardingham – Nina Forever), and she went missing from the very same town, of Eckhausen, 11 years ago. Her return sends shockwaves through the small community, especially when it is revealed that she may hold vital clues to the whereabouts of another missing girl.

The Missing Series Two makes its DVD and Blu-ray bow on 26 December 2016 alongside the release of The Missing - Series One and Two Box Set on DVD and Blu-ray.

I discovered the original series of The Missing exactly two years ago - click through to read my review - and I was totally hooked. It was one of those dramas that grips you by the heart and won't ease its hold until the very end, particularly because, as a parent, you can really put yourself in the position of the parents as their world falls apart. It has to be every parent's worst nightmare and highly publicised incidents such as the Maddie McCann case show that, sadly, such stories do actually happen in real life.

After such a hard-hitting first series, I was worried that the second series wouldn't be able to live up to my expectations, but it's actually equally addictive. Enough time has passed between the two series for the impact of the first season to have worn off, leaving you open to another angst-ridden rollercoaster ride of emotions. Christmas is a time for families and looking at happy times, so you may not want to watch this as soon as it comes out on Boxing Day, but come the New Year, when the decorations are coming down, it's definitely the perfect gritty drama to start next year's viewing off with a bang !
