What's Cooking at The Madhouse? menu plan 8/12

The busy period at work is behind us, most of the Christmas preparations are done and I can finally start chilling out and taking the time to cook some decent, honest comfort food again. I picked up a bargain cookery book in the sales last year at The Works - Clarissa Dickson Wright's Comfort Food for just £1.50 - and there are lots of dishes in it that inspired this week's menu plan.

Saturday

lunch - Time for the traditional Burger King visit - I'm rather partial to their Chicken Caesar Salad

dinner - Onion, aniseed and tomato soup

Sunday

lunch - the Madhouse grandparents will be over - not sure yet if we're having roast chicken or raclette though (cheese melted in little individual trays to pour over boiled potatoes and hams and cured meats)

dinner - fridge grazing, if anyone's hungry

Monday

lunch - homemade sausage roll with rice & frozen veg

dinner - Kedgeree

Tuesday

dinner chestnut soup

Wednesday

lunch - potato gratin with beefburgers & salad

dinner - Herbed chicken breasts with spaghetti & ratatouille

Thursday

dinner - Military Pork Puffs with root veg mash

Friday

dinner - potato cake with ham and cheese
