What's Cooking at The Madhouse? menu plan 2019 week #3

The first week back at work was pretty brutal, with lots of rushing around sorting out paperwork for passport applications and the life insurance money. I'm getting there, but it's a long job and there are only so many hours in the day ! I'm hoping for a calmer week this week, but just in case, I'll go for some simpler options. And breeeeeathe !

Monday

dinner - chicken & bacon pasta bake (with the addition of any leftover meat and veg from the Sunday roast)

Tuesday

dinner - pork chops, mash & veggies

Wednesday

lunch - homemade chicken nuggets, rice & ratatouille

dinner - tartiflette (baked potatoes, bacon, onions and stinky reblochon cheese !)

Thursday

dinner - steak & spaghetti

Friday

dinner -  flammekueche - an Alsace dish very similar to pizza but with crème fraîche instead of tomato puree as a base, and bacon and onions on top

Saturday

lunch - kids' choice of fast food - probably the old favourite, McDonald's !

dinner - sandwiches and fridge clearout

Sunday

lunch -  the classic Sunday roast - roast chicken, stuffing, gravy, carrots, mushrooms, onions

dinner - sandwiches and/or fridge clearout

  3. I love the variety and also your plans for using up leftovers rather than letting them go to the landfills. I have taken much inspiration for the meal plans ahead.

  5. Tartiflette and flammekueche sound like great simple ideas I could steal. Simpler to make than to type, I suspect! I never thimtto make French food probably because I think it's going to be complicated. Clearly I am wrong!!!

  6. Hope you have a less stressful week. I'd love my guys to eat a more varied diet, but all Eddie wants for dinner is pasta or tacos.

    1. Well, there's nothing wrong with tacos and pasta ! In our house, a lot of it comes from having three kids - they all get to give me ideas of what they want to eat, and usually all like each other's ideas, which is handy !

    1. If you can't get reblochon, any kind of soft, stinky cheese will do ! :)
