Jordans Honey & Nut Country Crisp review

I've already reviewed Jordans Country Crisp here on this blog (right here in fact) and told you how I was won over by the yumminess/healthiness balance and enthused about the crunchy, crispy clusters blended with oaty creaminess contrasting with tangy raspberries and other added ingredients. So when they asked me if I'd like to try out a box of their new Honey & Nut Country Crisp, that was a no-brainer !

When it arrived, I looked at the box and thought eh ? I'm sure there was already a box this colour in the Country Crisp range, wasn't there ? Well, I scuttled off to have a look and sure enough, the sunflower yellowy-orange box was already in the line-up but it was honey, not honey & nut. This seems to have replaced the old honey variety because the complete line-up, alongside the new Honey & Nut, is Real Strawberries, Real Raspberries, Chunky Nuts, Flame Raisins, Smooth Dark Chocolate. Mystery solved - time to get taste-testing.

Well, everything I loved in the other varieties is still there. The crunchy clusters, the natural flavours, the creamy oats, the fact that a bowlful makes a really satisfying meal (I eat them in the evening sometimes, if I don't fancy a big meal - who says they're just for breakfast ?!), ...

But on top of all that, they've also come up with a classic flavour combination (honey and nuts) and made it better. I have to admit, I'm also quite partial to a bowl of Honey Nut Cornflakes but you never really see identifiable bits of nut in those. Jordans use flaked and chopped almonds and slices of Brazil Nuts that are big enough for you to actually see and recognise.

Jordans explain that their recipe team worked their way through 83 different recipes to get the size, colour and taste of the clusters just right. As with all their Country Crisp cereals, the clusters are expertly baked by ‘eye’ by the Jordans team of ‘cluster bakers’, who each inspect the clusters as they emerge fresh from the oven to ensure they are the perfect golden colour. I would love to have the job description "cluster baker" on my CV !

Country Crisp Honey & Nut contains wholegrain goodness and absolutely no artificial colourings, flavourings, preservatives or GM ingredients. The oats and barley are grown on Jordans ‘Nature-Friendly’ Conservation Grade farms where the farmers dedicate 10% of their land to encourage bees, birds and butterflies to flourish. By choosing any of the Jordans range, you can rest assured you are doing your bit to help keep the British countryside buzzing and beautiful.

But let's be honest - the biggest draw is the taste. They're absolutely delicious.
