Cupcake Mum – a spa, fitness club and crèche facility with clubs in London

In my recent review of Nadia Sawalha's fitness DVD (that you can read here), I mentioned that it is often hard for new mums (or even not-so-new mums !) to find time away from the kids to get back in shape. Well, I have just been reading about this fabulous family-friendly spa and fitness club which has really taken this into account. Unfortunately, they're only in London at the moment but you might want to check out this little haven of bliss and tranquility and unadulterated me-time if you live close enough ! The third club opens on 27th January in Parsons Green.

The Cupcake story
Three Cupcakes in Three years

Karen Hastings had the idea to create a wellbeing space where mums and mums-to-be could re-connect with themselves and feel part of a community.

The Cupcake idea came about from watching her girlfriends in London get pregnant and seeing that they didn’t have anything to do, and nowhere to go. Taking a very London concept - club membership and making it relevant for family life; a place where parents can come with their children, feel safe and have a good time.

In 2008, the first Cupcake opened its doors in Putney, South London. Only a year after, Cupcake opened the second Club in Wandsworth. Cupcake is now creating a real hub for families in the area with its third centre in Parsons Green, South West London, pencilled to open January 2011.

The initial concept came to realisation shortly thereafter, with the first opening in Putney, South London in 2008. Cupcake raised £1.2m and project-managed the building from a concrete shell into unique haven. Only a year later, Karen opened the second Cupcake members’ club and spa in Wandsworth. Cupcake is now creating a real hub for families in the area with its third centre in Parsons Green, South West London, pencilled to open in January 2011.

The goal is to open 7 new clubs in the next five years and expand beyond South London to reach even more families.
