Half-term Boredom Buster : Cinnamon & Raisin Cookies #FloraFamilyFun

Whenever I need a quick, fun activity to keep the kids occupied, I usually turn to baking. It's a great way to practise important skills like counting and measuring without the kids even noticing, and we also get some lovely cakes to eat at the end ! When Flora sent us through their fabulous Half Term Boredom Buster kit last week, I was delighted to see that they'd included the ingredients for two of their baking projects. Unsurprisingly, this is the first activity that the Madhouse kids wanted to try ! The recipe only needs things that you are likely to already have in your kitchen cupboards so if you're wondering how to keep your own kids amused, you might like to have a go too.

Cinnamon & Raisin Cookies

75 ml Flora Cuisine or 75g (3oz) Flora Buttery
55 g (2oz) caster sugar
100 g (3½oz) soft brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla essence
100 g (3½oz) raisins , chopped
175 g (6oz) self-raising flour ,seived together with
2 tsp ground cinnamon and
0.5 tsp bicarbonate of soda

It's just a case of throwing everything into a bowl and mixing it all up. Look at that concentration on Pierre's face ...

Err, Pierre, can you watch what you're doing rather than posing for the photo ?!

Plop, one perfectly cracked egg in the bowl without the slightest bit of shell. He's always majorly chuffed at this point !

After mixing it all up, place little dollops on a greased baking tray.

Pop them in a preheated oven for 8-10 minutes at 190°C, 170°C fan, gas mark 5. They'll be soft in the middle and slightly crispy on the edges.

They're lovely still warm from the oven, but can also be kept for at least three days in a tin (possibly longer but by then, they were all gone !)

We'll be showing you some more half term activities using the Flora Buttery Family Fun Guide throughout the week so watch this space ! All of the projects only take a few minutes and use things you're likely to have around the house.

Disclosure : We received a Boredom Buster kit.
