We love wraps here at The Madhouse, whether they are being used cold as a sandwich substitute or as part of a Mexican feast involving fajitas. We even made Chocochangas once - an instant dessert made with banana and chocolate heated in a wrap which was surprisingly yummy. I was therefore keen to see what we'd think of the BFree wraps that we were sent to review.
They have a lot of great things going for them. They are high in fibre, low in fat and only contain 99 calories each. For anyone following a special diet, they are also gluten, dairy, egg and wheat free. They're suitable for vegans and use all natural ingredients to replace the wheat and gluten. All good news so I was hoping they wouldn't be a let-down in the taste department.
Well, I found them slightly drier than non-gluten-free wraps and they aren't quite so pliable so they broke apart a bit when I got to the final couple of mouthfuls, but they're not bad at all if you add an extra "wet" ingredient like coleslaw or mayonnaise.
This was my lunch today - a BFree wrap filled with lettuce, coleslaw, turkey breast, cherry tomato and a few chunks of cheddar. I also added a little drizzle of low fat mayonnaise. Totally delicious and very filling too.
These wraps are now stocked in ASDA on the "free from" aisle. They cost £2.80 for 6 which is more expensive than a lot of other wrap brands, but I've found that that's often the case for gluten-free options.
