"Free From" snacks from Ocado review

I recently received an email from Ocado informing me about their free-from range of kiddie snacks, just in time for Back to School preparations. Well, here at The Madhouse, we're lucky enough to (touch wood) have no allergies or intolerances at all, but I know from some of my blogger and twitter friends how complicated it can be trying to find tasty snacks and lunchbox ideas for their kids who are intolerant to gluten, dairy, egg or whatever.

Well, if you're in that position, Ocado to the rescue ! They say : "Dairy, nut, wheat, we at Ocado know that it can be hard to find great tasting alternatives for your little ones. Ocado have launched the UK’s largest one stop shop for free-from alternatives." They sent us through a taster box and I was really impressed to see not only the wide range of options available but also just how tasty they all looked !

I'll be reviewing them all properly over the coming weeks (we'd already reviewed a few of them actually) and adding links to the reviews here, but I'll give you a quick overview of what we received :

Hale & Hearty BBQ Cassava Chips (the packaging has changed since I wrote this review but the chips haven't ! - gluten and wheat-free)

Goody Good Stuff Tropical Sweets (gluten-free, gelatine-free, fat-free, dairy-free)

Orgran Dinosaur Wholefruit Cookies (wheat free, dairy free, egg free, gluten free, soy free, yeast free and nut free, as well as vegan)

Crunchy Free-Nut Butter

9 Bar

Nakd Banana Bread bar (wheat, dairy & gluten-free, vegan)

Choices Choc Buttons (dairy-free, gluten-free, wheat-free, egg-free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans)

Orgran Farm Animal Shaped Rice and Corn Pasta (wheat free, dairy free, egg free, gluten free, soy free, yeast free and nut free, as well as vegan)

Little Pasta Organics Sauce (gluten-free, nut/seed-free, vegan)

Isabel's Kids mini Cheese Bread Bites Mix (gluten-free, wheat free, vegetarian)

and a funky Sistema lunchbox (that you can see in the photo above).

You can search Ocado's "Free From" Shop by category - gluten-free, wheat-free, egg-free, dairy-free, lactose-free, soya-free, milk-free, yeast-free, no added sugar, nut-free and salt-free.

Disclosure : I received a selection of goodies from the Ocado Free-From Shop to see some of what is on offer. I'll be posting honest reviews of these products over the coming weeks.

  1. the farm pasta is good stuff, some gluten free pastas cook up like wall paper paste, but this stuff cooks normal
