9-year-old Sophie is very good at brushing her teeth and was told she had Princess Teeth the last time she went to the dentist's ! 5-year-old Juliette was also told she had Princess Teeth but with her, it's a bit more work. First of all, I have to nag her so that she goes to the bathroom to brush her teeth in the first place. Then, more often than not, before I've even had time to follow her into the bathroom, she's back on the way out claiming that she's finished already.
To be fair to her, she probably doesn't have a clue what the correct time for brushing her teeth is because I've told her that it's two minutes but that's a very ambiguous term in our house. There's the exasperated cry of "You've got two minutes to tidy your room before it all goes in the bin !" which she obviously understands as about ten seconds judging by the speed at which she moves ! Then there's the "just give me two minutes to check my emails and then I'll play with you" which, if I'm honest, is probably closer to half an hour ! Well, the Firefly toothbrush takes all the guesswork out of the equation because it flashes for exactly one minute - you do one minute for your top teeth followed by one minute for your bottom teeth.
Both girls absolutely love using them and they do respect the designated time for brushing which is great. They now frequently ask to brush their teeth in the dark and much giggling ensues, although I do tell them they're not allowed to spit until I've turned the lights back on because I always worry they'll miss the sink and spit all over each other !
The light is really easy to activate - you just squeeze the squishy end of the brush - and there is no faffing around with on-off switches or fiddly batteries. The battery is included and by the time it needs changing, it will be time to get a new toothbrush anyway ! Big white smiles all round !
