Little hands need little tools and these ultra-cute weaning accessories from Boots are perfect for letting Pierre having a try at feeding himself. He may still manage to get more on the floor and the highchair tray (not to mention on the top of his head !) than in his mouth but at least he has cute feeding utensils to do it with !
The plate and cutlery set that we were sent to review come from the Safari range and feature a variety of cute animals that you can use to distract your little one if he is stubbornly refusing to eat his pureed vegetables ! We often play the "who's hiding under the food over here ?" game and have fun making animal noises as we point at them - great distraction techniques and makes a change from "here comes the aeroplane/train" !
The fork and spoon are made of stainless steel which I initially thought might hurt Pierre's gums but he seems quite happy to use them as makeshift teething rings when he gets bored of eating so they obviously feel nice in his mouth !
The plate is made of melamine so you shouldn't use it in a microwave. It can however go through the dishwasher. We've washed the plate and cutlery numerous times in the dishwasher as well as by hand and they're all in perfect condition still.
I love the design and the bright colours (the pictures don't do justice to the lovely turquoisey-blue colour scheme) which make a change from the very girlie plates and cutlery I had for Sophie and Juliette when they were younger.
