Giveaway #681 : Win The Totally Amazing, Fact-Packed, Fold-Out Atlas of the World - closed - winner Michelle O' Neill

These days, if the Madhouse kids need to look up information for a school project or just out of idle curiosity, the first place they will head to is google. Sometimes, a book can just do it so much better though, and this is one of those occasions.

What makes this book so special are the fold-out pages which give you a huge, colourful, fact-packed expanse of page to cover your whole table or bed and ponder over and which provide numerous "ooh Mum, did you know ...?" moments. As the blurb on the back of the book says : "Hold the world in your hands and discover the many wonders of our Earth with this fabulous fold-out atlas."

Designed specifically to make the vast reaches of our planet tangible for a young audience, it presents the world as a place rich in discoveries and the maps show the major continents in rich detail, with pictorial insets featuring people, places and wildlife.

Discover people, creatures and amazing physical and man-made features, and find out how every part of our planet is both vital and connected. In a simple way, kids can learn about the people, places and political boundaries hiding behind the names in the news headlines.

There is also a colourful double page map which acts as a table of contents and shows you the world at a glance, a page highlighting the flags of each country and a section on oceans. There is a huge amount of information in there, but it is cut up into bite-sized, easily digestible pieces that, along with the bright colours and oodles of illustrations, make this a very appealing book for children. (And adults. I think I've read it cover to cover now too, both with and without the kids !)
