What's Cooking at The Madhouse? menu plan 2019 week #8

This last week was a great time for catching up with all the various appointments that I don't have time for when I'm at work, plus I had a clearout in the spice rack. This week, which is the second week of the holidays, I have plans to do lots of baking to make some space in the baking cupboard, plus have a use-up session in the food cupboards and freezer. That's the plan anyway, but it's the holidays, so things may change !

Monday

lunch - baked ham with rice & veggies

dinner - chicken stir-fry with noodles & more veggies (but shhh ! don't tell the kids !)

Tuesday

lunch - chicken sausages with mash, peas & carrots

dinner - cheese & bacon pasta bake

Wednesday

lunch - battered fish, chips and peas

dinner - fajitas

Thursday

lunch - spicy steak with onions & peppers and ... not sure, rice or pasta or maybe some leftovers

dinner -  Hawaiian pizzas again - the kids loved the last lot and made me buy more !

Friday

lunch - pork chops, couscous & veg

dinner - cheesy potato bake, probably with a side order of leftovers, if not I'll add some bacon to it

Saturday

lunch - kids' choice of fast food - probably the old favourite, McDonald's !

dinner - sandwiches and fridge clearout

Sunday

lunch - chicken gyros with rice & salad

dinner - sandwiches and/or fridge clearout

  3. gosh I am surprised to read you are cooking meals twice in a day, we always ate ( and still do) one meal as a sandwich or maybe soup. A friend of mine always did 2 cooked meals a day swore it was cheaper with a family than a snack meal.

    1. I always used to in the UK but it's just not done in France - nobody eats sandwiches at home (we do at the weekend !), probably because (or why) you get a one and a half or two hour lunch break, even at school. Kids aren't allowed to take sandwiches to school either - everyone has the set meal (and chooses a starter, cheese and a dessert). Different ways, I guess ! :)
