Project 366 : Photo diary week 32

This week was a bit of a boring one. At the start of the week, we continued our dejunk/reorganisation of the house, then from about Friday, the heatwave struck and it was just too hot to do anything much. I used the time to catch up on my reading and blogging. A little bit of heat and sun is nice but this is just too much ! It's supposed to last for most of next week too - eeeeeek ! Apart from that, it looks like our usual trip back to the UK to see the family will be cancelled as, apart from the silly prices on the Eurotunnel and the ferries at the moment, they're talking about putting 2 weeks confinement back in place for those coming from France. I haven't seen my family since February and I get a feeling it won't be on the cards in October or maybe even Christmas either *sigh*

Sunday 2nd August - Pierre wanted to help me out in the kitchen when I started making dinner so I told him to start off by putting some oil in the pan. He was very impressed to splash it in and see a heart magically appear !
Monday - We carried on sorting out the house. Sophie started washing all the windows while I continued dejunking in the living/dining room. Result : another bag of rubbish ! My bin is constantly overflowing at the moment and we have a pile of bin bags to get rid of in the garage. I made meatballs for lunch and Pierre wanted to help. He didn't even complain when mixing all the raw meat together. What a star !

Tuesday - When I'm at work, I pop into town every Tuesday lunchtime to have lunch with two friends and, even though it's the holidays, we decided to keep the date. Pierre and Sophie came along but Juliette was off meeting her friends to go to the skating rink. On the way, we saw the kids in their mini sailing boats being pulled along by the instructor. They always look so cute !

Wednesday - Instead of our usual walk with the dog after dinner, we decided to jump on the bus and head to the beach for sunset. Sophie wanted to get some photos to put on instagram. We've been avoiding the beach because it is predictably overcrowded and, in the early evening, the promenade was totally packed with people walking along, choosing restaurants and bars to go to, so we headed down onto the beach itself, which was totally empty.

Thursday - Well, I haven't been to see the woman at the bank for a few days, so it must be about time again ! She called and asked me to go in and sign some more documents. She apologises every time about it being overly secure, as it's protecting the children's money. I don't even know what I'm signing any more - this was yet again requesting permission from the bank to transfer the money because it hits the magic figure of €5000. The bank woman is about to head off on holiday so I asked if that's it now - can I finally offer the proof that I've transferred the money to the Children's Judge. She said no, not yet, as the money hasn't been transferred yet, we have to wait for the bank to agree. I give up ! As it was getting decidedly hot, we all opted for a mega-ice cream to cool down. I chose violet, pear and mango sorbet - delicious !

Friday - It's way too hot to do anything ! I had a quick tidy up in the kitchen, did the washing up then decided that I was too hot and sweaty to do anything more energetic than sitting in front of the fan ! I made a veggie casserole with cheese dumplings for dinner (except that I added some bacon lardons, to keep the kids happy). It was very tasty. I'll share the recipe when I get the chance.

Saturday - Another day of being way too hot. The kids didn't even want to go into town for McDonald's, so we opted for a kebab from our local shop. I was quite pleased as it was too hot to go in the kitchen and cook ! A total lazy day. Reading, blogging and watching Netflix in front of the fan ! It did cloud over and I was sure we were going to have a massive thunderstorm, but that never happened. Back to blue skies and silly heat as I write this on Sunday morning though - aaaaggghhh !

  1. It has been a scorcher of a week here too. Too hot to do much. I am not a fan of the heat.
It sounds like you have done really well dejunking your house.
Good idea about going to the beach later on an evening. What a treat to have it to yourself.
I can't believe you are still having to go to the bank to sign things. I hope you get it sorted soon.
That veggie casserole looks amazing! x

  5. The evening on the beach sounds lovely glad it wasn't crowded. Sorry to hear you won't be able to make the UK for a while with prices like they are. I'm only going back to Dubai to renew my visa. The bank process sounds very complicated, sadly I find from living abroad that people just assume you know how things are done and you'll ask questions if needed, trouble is when you don't know what to ask, the whole process takes longer

  9. It has been so hot recently! We have now had some thunderstorms though which have cooled it down a bit and hopefully you have too. That sorbet looks amazing. Sorry to hear you’re still having to sort things out with the bank – hopefully it won’t go on for too much longer for you. #project366
