INDIE ALLIANCE WEEKEND (Independent Publishers) - great weekend for book lovers - 11/12 September in London

I've been asked to spread the word to my book-loving reades and any budding writers out there so so here's all the info I have.

INDIE ALLIANCE WEEKEND

This is the first time the Alliance has come together and we’re really excited about it so come along to help us make it a success.

Icon are part of a group of publishers called the Independent Alliance which includes Faber, Quercus (publishers of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Granta, Profile (Eats Shoots and Leaves) and several others. The Alliance is now counted as the fifth biggest publishing group in the UK.

The focus of the events will be on how to be published, how to write commercial fiction and non-fiction and will be held on the 11th and 12th September at Foyles Bookshop on Charing Cross Road. However the authors there will be talking as much about their books as the process of writing them.

As part of the weekend of events, there will be a publishing panel giving advice on how to pitch for publication and market your book in the best way with leading publishing individuals from the above houses.

There are two full days dedicated to giving budding writers access to best-selling authors, with various talks addressing areas such as crime, non-fiction, history, debut authors, memoir and creative writing. Authors talking include PD James, Max Schaefer, Alex Preston, Rupert Thomson, Jenny Diski and many more.

There is also a speed-dating panel where people will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with the authors themselves!

For tickets, email events@foyles.co.uk (Day tickets are £15 / Weekend tickets £25 / Concession prices available too).

  1. Hi Cheryl!

I've signed up to the Londonist competition but I might go the whole hog and purchase some tickets, too. Thanks for helping spread the word!
