Spongebob Squarepants Mega Bloks review

Mega Bloks have added a new collection of Spongebob Squarepants sets to their range and Pierre was delighted to be sent some to try out.

We jumped right in with the biggest set first - it contains 337 pieces to create a Cool Invisible Boatmobile with translucent blocks, a bobCAT vehicle and a Jellyfish catapult, with SpongeBob, Patrick and Plankton micro action figures and four jellyfish.

The suggested age range on the box is 5+ but putting the models together is actually quite tricky so I ended up doing the building part all by myself. The detailed visual instructions are simple to follow step-by-step but it takes a while sifting through the different pieces until you find the bits you need and it's quite fiddly clicking them into place.

It took me over an hour but once they're complete, they look great.

The BobCAT vehicle has a lever to lift and drop the scoop which Pierre loves playing with. He is also a huge fan of the jellyfish catapult and has been having great fun pinging them everywhere !

The "invisible" car is also very impressive and Pierre has been driving it around all over the place. It drives very smoothly and, once put together, is actually quite solid, putting up with some very enthusiastic playing.

I moved on to the smaller set in the tube - the Patrick Racer.

This one is very simple and great fun to put together because it looks like a cross between a Viking longboat and the Trojan Horse !

I had fun putting them together and Pierre has been playing with them non stop, so it sounds like a win-win situation to me !

  1. Super! I better not show it to Eddie, or my peace will be shattered. :) We have two Mega Bloks Thomas sets, which I bought for his birthday, and he loves them
