This week has been a great week for steps. Last Sunday, we went on a huge walk to a park (with scooters for the kids) plus did some geocaching when we got there - verdict over 20,000 steps (15km = 9.3 miles) ! We did another long walk on Wednesday to see the circus zoo. And on Friday, I jumped on the Wii Fit for another "endurance run". I usually do a 10 minute one, which relates to about 2km, but this time, I decided to push a bit further - I wanted to try 15 minutes but it only goes up in 10 minute increments so I charged up 20 minutes and thought I'd drop out at 15 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised to make it through to the end, covering 4km. I always end up with really sore calf muscles (like a pulled muscle) in my left leg afterwards though, even if I have no pain when jogging - any ideas ?
Foodwise, it's been pretty good - salad, soup and fairly healthy meals have been on the menu and I opted for a Slimfast shake when the school canteen offering sounded decidedly unhealthy. I did tuck into some apple pie - what can you do when you visit a friend who offers you a piece of cake she made specially ?! - and Pierre has been proudly presenting me with one of his mini eggs every day since Easter (I don't have the heart to turn him down, they're only tiny !) but overall, I think it's been pretty good.
I was therefore slightly gutted to see that this week, it's a no change - *sigh*. Oh well, I'll just focus on that 20 minute Wii jog and the fact that I got a coloured dot every day this week for hitting my steps target, either for aerobic steps or overall !
Positives of the week
- I managed to complete the 20 minute 4km Wii run without stopping, which I was hugely impressed with !
My steps were also very impressive this week : Sunday 21,728 steps (15km), Monday 8,829 steps (6km), Tuesday 11,381 steps (8km), Wednesday 20,042 steps (13km), Thursday 14,109 steps (9km), Friday 13,507 steps (9km), Saturday 7,626 steps (5km) - that's a grand total of 97,222 steps and 65km (40 miles). That'll help with my #walk1000miles challenge !

ReplyDeleteFantastic this week I'm sure the scales will catch up next week - I'll be back with the weekly weigh ins as of tomorrow as I've let it go a bit ooops!
ReplyDeleteAliceMegan
Hope so or I may have to throw them out of the window !! Look forward to catching up xx
Delete4k in 20 minutes?! Bloody hell love, that isn't jogging, that's running!! Make sure you warm up properly beforehand - I don't do stretches beforehand but always make sure I power walk for 5 mins before running and then stretch it out afterwards - after your muscles are easier to stretch and it may make a big difference to my calf. It's my knee that gives me problems :(
ReplyDeleteHope you are having an awesome week - you have walked loads - good all round exercise!! Sim #WeightLossWednesday xx
LOL !! You literally made me laugh out loud here !! Is that good? It doesn't seem like real running when it's on the wii fit but I guess it all counts ! OK, you've made me feel good and inspired me to keep going now :) xx
DeleteNah, that's fantastic! Saw your comment on WLW and had to come back and check! It's definitely running! I do running on the spot too when waiting for the dog etc, just a minute or so of power running on the spot... must help! I really need to get the Wii Fit and related games out - the boxing one used to kill my arms!xx
ReplyDeleteit definitely all counts ! xx
DeleteI can only dream of running at the moment, but well done on keeping going and not dropping at 15 minutes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at #WeightLossWednesday.
Thanks xx
DeleteI have to same problem with the wii fit! It does get easier if you do it more consistently, you need to burn through the pain lol!
ReplyDeleteLaura x x x
I looked into it a little bit and apparently running on the spot makes you run on the balls of your feet so you need to stretch your calf muscles properly at the end of the run - I tried it and it worked last time, so fingers crossed it wasn't a fluke !
DeleteWell done on the weight to date. Some weeks are better than others, so don't lose heart. We both have a similar amount of weight we want to lose. We can do it!!
