This week was half-term, for me and the kids. Even better news, in France you get two weeks off, so we're still on holiday for another week - woohoo ! We've headed over to England to see the grandparents and my sister and we're having a great time, despite the pretty constant wind and rain. Here's what we've been up to this week.
Sunday 16th February - Back together again ! My dad came and picked us up and drove us all the way home. It was pretty windy so I was glad we were on the Channel Tunnel rather than the ferries ! There were a few delays on his way over but it didn't really matter, as we were all heading back together - it would have killed it if it had been just for the usual day trip though.
Monday - It was Juliette's birthday just before we came over, on the 14th February - we had a strawberry cream cake on the day itself but we'd already eaten half of it before I realised I hadn't taken a photo. Oops, it shows how hectic things were when I was at work last week ! I knew we were having another cake with the grandparents though so I made sure we took a photo this time. Happy birthday Juliette, 15 years old and still smiling so hopefully we'll avoid all the teenage angst that I was expecting ! lol
Tuesday - I actually left my camera behind by accident so I've asked the kids to take over on taking the photos this week. They said OK but they wanted to take a photo of me for a change. Well, OK, I guess !
Wednesday - After a trip to the Old Town in Hastings, wandering through all the quirky boutiques and spending some time in the amusement arcades (where Pierre would happily spend half of the holidays !), we headed to the main town centre for some last minute shopping. Sophie treated us all to a smoothie in Muffin Break.
Thursday - We all headed out for a family meal for Juliette's birthday at the local Brewer's Fayre. Alongside us four, my parents and sister and her boyfriend, my aunt came along too, so it was lovely to catch up with everyone. After some lovely Smothered Chicken (chicken breast topped with mozzarella and bacon, served with chips, coleslaw and garlic bread), we still all found space for dessert ! Yum !
Friday - We headed to Eastbourne for the day, as the weather wasn't looking great. They have a shopping arcade so at least we'd be under cover if it poured hard - which it did. We managed to fit in a quick trip to a park next to where we parked the car before heading to the shops, which was perfect. We grabbed some clothes, some books and - Pierre's favourite purchase of the day - a giant tennis ball !
Saturday - My mum and dad bought a dog bed for each of their dogs when we went to Lidl for supplies. They are very comfortable ... according to Pierre, who spent all evening laying in there until the dog pinched his space back !
Love the photo of you. Glad you weren't on the ferry! Must be lovely to spend time catching up with family again #366
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely. Before Madhouse Daddy died, we could over come over for a few days at Christmas and a week in the summer so we're catching up now !
DeleteI love the photo of you, so pretty. So many lovely photos this week. I am glad you weren't on the ferry. But, it must have been nice to catch up with the family again xx
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely to get to spend some time with the family :)
DeleteHappy 15th Juliette, some lovely family photos and great to see one of you. My son took a ferry from Ireland over the weekend, you made a wise decision to take the tunnel, hope you enjoyed the week with your family
ReplyDeleteOooh that must have been such a rough crossing, hope he was OK ! We're still here for another week :) xx
DeleteBelated happy birthday to Juliette. You've all had a really busy and fun family time.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the dog bed manufacturer should advertise their large ones as dog/teenage beds? It looks more comfortable than some I have slept in over the years.
LOL That would probably be a big hit !
DeleteI think the ferry would have been to risky.
ReplyDeleteLove the pic of him in the dog bed.
Glad you got some good family time.
Belated happy birthday to Juliette
They stopped the ferries for a day but they tend to go in pretty much all weathers, which isn't necessarily a good thing ! lol
DeleteHow lovely to spend family time with your parents over the half-term holidays. Happy birthday to Juliette - it sounds like she had a good one. Love the photo of Pierre in the dog bed. #project366
ReplyDeleteHe's still in there most evenings ! lol
DeleteI think we could have done with 2 weeks off.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to Juliette.
Nice to see a photo of you!
It sounds like you have had a fab week with lots of family time. x
It's always lovely to catch up with the family and just to chill out - and yes, two weeks is absolute bliss! lol
DeleteLol @ Pierre in the dog's bed. It does look comfy though. You look very pretty, so well done to your kids for making you sit for them. Happy belated birthday to Juliette! Her cake looks beautiful. How lovely that you could spend time with Sophie and your parents.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that we're not too far away - and now that it's just us, we come over for all the holidays. Lovely to catch up more often :)
DeleteI think the kids did you proud with that picture - I like it. Must have been nice to spend time with your family. My H would have loved a two week half term.
ReplyDeleteAww thanks ! It was great to have a proper catch up and wind down at home. Getting into the mindset for going back to work now - boo ! lol
DeleteLovely photo of you and how nice to be able to do so much catching with family and having some time together.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you in the pic for a change! My kids adopted the dog bed when it first arrived and were annoyed to have to give it up. I'm jealous of a two week half term! #project366
ReplyDeleteLOL Glad he's not the only one ! Two week holidays are great - a week to catch up on everything that needs doing then a week to rest and have fun ! :)
