With Easter literally days behind us, you're probably sick of the sight of eggs of any description. But rest assured - this one is totally calorie and sticky chocolate fingerprint-free ! And it could actually help improve the safety of your precious little bundle of joy's surroundings.
It's a Gro Egg, from the same people who created the iconic Gro-Bag baby sleeping bag and the Gro-Clock, which I reviewed here and that countless parents across the globe who finally get to stay in bed a bit longer are grateful for ! Now, I've seen pictures of these Gro-Eggs before and, although I knew that they acted as room thermometers, I thought the pretty colours were just that - a colour that you chose to go with the decor in your nursery.
But no, the colours show you at a glance if the temperature needs adjusting without even looking at the number on the screen, which is brilliant for those bleary-eyed middle-of-the-night checks that all brand new parents go through in the first few days and weeks. The manufacturer explains : "A yellow glow suggests a comfortable temperature for children to sleep in, whilst a blue glow suggests it’s too cold and a red glow suggests it’s too high. The colours act as a reminder for you to cool or heat the room, to modify the baby’s clothing, to use a different tog Grobag Baby Sleep Bag or for non-sleep bag users to alter the level of bedding."
When you knowthat an overly heated bedroom may be a factor in cot death (or SIDS as it's now known), that makes a Gro-Egg a much more sensible buy for a new baby than a pretty wall frieze or yet another cute sleepsuit.

ReplyDeletei used one of these when my daughter was young, it worked well for extreme temps, but i found it hard to use for slightly colder or warmer temps, i would be shivering in the bedroom yet it would still glow orange? unless im really nesh!
