A few weeks ago, I discovered healthy snacking brand Veronica's when we reviewed their Crunchy Creatures - fun dinosaur snacks that taste as good as they look. They kindly sent us over some more of their products to put to the test.
First we tried the Baked Veggie Crisps which come in Roast Tomato and Spanish Paprika flavour. I wasn't sure what kind of reception these would get, firstly because paprika flavoured snacks are sometimes overly spicy for the kids and secondly because they're made with vegetables (Carrot, Beetroot, Broccoli, Spinach, Garlic). Well, I was amazed to see that the kids tucked into them with gusto, as if they were normal crisps. I tried a couple and I have to say, they do taste just like normal crisps. With a 23g bag containing just 96 calories and 2.8g of fat (of which 0.3g saturated), I can eat these with a clear conscience.
I opened the Barbeque flavoured crinkle-cut Baked Potato Crisps next and they look identical to the Baked Veggie Crisps. They have a wonderful crispy, crunchy texture and they aren't at all greasy, as they're baked. Totally scrummy, despite being gluten-free.
Our absolute faves were the Sour Cream, Herb & Onion Baked Potato Crisps though. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the potato crisps have the same low calorie and fat count as the veggie ones.
These all taste so good that it's hard to believe they contain 60% less fan than regular crisps, as well as 100% natural ingredients, with no artificial colours or flavourings. They get a unanimous thumbs-up at The Madhouse !
