Today, we'd planned on having a pyjama day, but as the skies turned blue and a watery sun came out, the kids asked if we could go out on an adventure - well, how could I say no to a request like that ?!
We jumped on the bus and headed off to one of the less urban parks in the town. It has a lovely nature walk around a wood, as well as a sports trail.
A fallen tree trunk was just as good as the official equipment though - Pierre and Juliette had great fun using it as a balance beam.
And it wasn't long before Sophie joined in !
It was very boggy on the woodland paths and some of the fields were totally flooded. It just shows how much rain we've had lately !
Pierre wanted to see if a geocache that we'd found before was still in place. There are a few in this park but we've done them all.
We finished off in the play area. There is always a big queue for the swings so Juliette and Pierre shared the tyre swing.
It was a bit of a squash but they managed !
I always love seeing Juliette looking after her little brother :)
But in the end, he likes to be independent and do it all by himself too !
Juliette still hovers in the background though, showing him the way. Pierre was totally lost when Juliette was on her school skiing trip last month, so goodness knows how he'll survive when she moves up to secondary school next year !
They're the kings of the castle which must mean that I'm the dirty rascal ! By now, Sophie had a numb bum from sitting on a cold concrete bench so we decided to head for home.
It's so sweet that they have a lovely bond. It's great to see them playing so happily together and so lovely for you to see them grow and learn things for themselves as well as with each other. Thank you for sharing with #whatevertheweather xx
ReplyDeleteI doubt if they'll stay that close for much longer - Juliette's just turned 11 last week so she'll be into the stroppy teens soon !
DeleteLooks like they're having a lot of fun at the park, logs are always a hit with my two too. Lovely that Juliette and Pierre are having fun playing together, good to know that his big sister is always looking out for him. Hopefully that will continue, even when Juliette goes off to secondary school. Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather :) x
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed ... they still like getting outside more than playing on screens at the moment, and long may it last ! :)
