Kelly's of Cornwall Clotted Cream & Chocolate Ice Cream

Back at Christmas, I discovered (and reviewed here) Kelly's of Cornwall Clotted Cream Ice Cream. Well, now Easter is almost upon us so, in keeping with the season, they've added ... you've guessed it ... chocolate to the mix. The result is Kelly's of Cornwall Clotted Cream & Chocolate Ice Cream, which the company describes as "a delicious combination of dark chocolate flakes, lashings of Cornish clotted cream and Cornish whole milk". Sounds decadent and indulgent and absolutely delicious ? Well, that's because it is !

I've eaten a lot of different brands over the years, including the premium, adult-oriented brands like Ben & Jerry's and Haagen Dazs, but nothing ever seems to be as rich and creamy as Kelly's. Maybe it's the addition of local Cornish milk and clotted cream, maybe it's all that lush grass that the Cornish cows graze on or maybe it's the fact that it reminds me of eating Cornish ice cream on the annual summer holidays in Perranporth when I was a child, but it really is the ultimate creamy, velvety ice cream experience.

I loved the Clotted Cream ice cream so much that I was worried the addition of chocolate would spoil it as it can sometimes have a slightly bitter taste. I needn't have worried. Kelly's have totally mastered the subtle blend of flavours and maintained the creaminess and decadence of the original.

If you want to go the whole hog, Kelly's have also come up with a few recipe ideas (although the only thing you really need to add is a spoon !) :

For the kids, whip up a Chunky Choc Chip Sundae ... A scoop of Kelly's of Cornwall Clotted Cream and Chocolate Ice Cream, sprinkled with broken Easter eggs and finished off with whipped cream. This dessert is certain to cool the little ones down after the excitement (or should that be eggs-citement ?!) of an Easter egg hunt.

And not forgetting mum and dad ... Enjoy an Easter Sundae of Kelly's of Cornwall Clotted Cream and Chocolate Ice Cream, topped with chopped dried apricots, cherries, sultanas and a sprinkling of mixed spice. Delicious enough for a second helping !

Yum !
