When I came to write this review, I discovered that if you give an app called "Wee Rockets" to a 7 and 3-year-old, they'll already be giggling at the (in their view) toilet humour before they've even got the iPad switched on ! I was pleased to see that their enjoyment continued once they discovered the actual game though.
Wee Rockets is a simple little app which allows players to create their own customised rocket and pick an astronaut then fly it across the night sky, crashing into meteors (according to Juliette, but I'm inclined to think you're actually supposed to avoid them - oh well, she enjoys it !) and rescuing aliens.
It's very repetitive and there isn't really much to the game itself but - possibly due to the fact that it has such simple gameplay - it seems to be strangely addictive to both Pierre and Juliette.
There are 8 astronauts and 32 rocket pieces to choose from so it'll be a while before they've worked through all the possible combinations !
Ooh there's some serious concentration going on here !
It's a simple app that needs no explanations so it appeals to young players but anyone older would soon get bored with it because it's not difficult, varied or stimulating enough. I thought the price was quite high compared to many similarly-priced kids' apps that have a variety of mini games to play rather than just one.
