Olives Et Al Pistou Basil & Garlic Olives review

I've been enjoying dipping into the lovely Christmas hamper that we bought, sampling the delicacies inside. Our latest discovery was these Pistou Basil & Garlic Olives from Olives Et Al, which proudly show off a Great Taste Gold award on the label.

If you're unaware of Pistou, it's basically the Provençal version of pesto and is a mixture of basil, garlic and oil. The olives are marinated in basil-infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil so it's far too good to just throw away. Use it as a salad dressing or for drizzling over grilled chicken breasts, once you've eaten the olives.

The olives are nice and firm - there are no mushy ones - but be warned, they still have stones in them (as Madhouse daddy found out when he swiped one from the kitchen and bit straight into it !). The flecks of basil give a delicate fresh flavour that complements the olives nicely, but I didn't really find that the flavour had infused right through the olives. I'd have liked a slightly more robust flavour.
