Madhouse Diaries : Family Frolics at the Christmas Farm

Poor Pierre has been poorly this week - I even had to take a day off work on Friday to look after him - but we decided to head out and get some fresh air to see if it helped perk him up a bit. We went to see the Christmas market at Gravelines - the biggest one in our area - and discovered La Ferme de Noël, the Christmas Farm. Not sure these llamas (or are they alpacas?) are very festive, but they were very tame !

Pierre cracked us up here by squealing "look, it's a licorne" which is French for unicorn ! (I think he got mixed up with "cornes" which is French for horns.)

In the next enclosure were some rather cold-looking sheep.

And some friendly donkeys.

All the animals seemed extremely tame in fact, coming over for us to stroke them.

The pony even started licking Sophie's hand at one point, much to her delight!

In the next area was a large tukey. I naughtily said "oh look, it's Christmas dinner".

This seemed to annoy him as he started gobbling loudly and parading around with his tail fanned out ! Oops !

The Madhouse kids decided to annoy one of the other feathered friends instead, laughing at the "punk chicken" ! He reminded me of Limahl from Kajagoogoo actually, if you're old enough to remember him. "Too shy-shy, hush hush, eye to eye ..." !

To finish off, Pierre had a cuddle with the soft toy deer which looked very much like the reindeer he has at home !

  1. I hope Pierre is feeling much better and enjoyed his trip to the Christmas Farm. I'm sad to say that I am old enough to remember Limahl and yes that chicken does resemble him! Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
